Where to get the best Breakfast: Venice,CA

I've lived in Venice Beach for the past 8 years so needless to say I know some good breakfast spots in the area. Some of the restaurants on this list are new, and some are tried and true Los Angeles staples, but you should give them all a try at least once. Whether you're in town for a day or have lived in L.A. for 20 years and you're just looking for a new spot to try, below find the the best breakfast and brunch spots in Venice Beach, California!

Great White

This spot is fairly new and fairly small, so expect it to be super busy on a Saturday or Sunday morning. They have v limited amounts of uncomfortable seating, but their food is Ahhhhmazing. Try the corn fritters with a poached egg or their Scramble Bowl with goat cheese, bacon, and pesto. SO. GOOD.

Superba

One of my favorite spots in L.A. Their coffee is really good and their bread is even better - sometimes I go just to pick up a loaf of their famous sourdough. If you’re there for breakfast get the grain bowl or their avocado toast because who doesn’t love avocado toast? It’s like a food group on it’s own at this point.

Flake

One of my favorite breakfast burritos in L.A. - and that is a BOLD statement. Try the turkey sausage breakfast burrito if you go. It has the fluffiest eggs in all the land. Expect long lines on weekends but it’s usually pretty mellow mid-week. Definitely a local’s spot.

Butcher’s Daughter

For my vegetarian friends, Butcher’s Daughter has a great assortment of vegetarian and Vegan options that are actually really good. Def get dressed to go here though - you’ll more than likely run into someone you know slash have a few celeb sightings. Psst if you miss out on visiting the one on Abbot Kinney, there's also one in NYC next time you're there.

They’re owned by the Gjelina folks so needless to say the staff is snotty AF. Poor service issues aside, they have some of the best croissants in L.A., so it’s worth it to go at least once. Go forth and get your carbs.

Rose Café

Rose Cafe is a great place to take out-of-towners. The ambience is really pretty and the lighting is good for all of your Instagram needs. They also have a pretty broad menu and it’s the kind of spot you can go for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Really good juices and cocktails too. Only con is valet is only free for an hour so set a timer if you park there, lol.

Have you ever read the book "Steal Like an Artist" ? If not, I'd highly recommend it. It seems to be a book I always go back to when I'm having a creative block and need some serious inspiration. The premise is basically this: whatever you admire in other artists take a portion of, and make it your own in a unique way. Don't be confused: this does NOT mean go steal other people's work, but to more find aspects of inspiration in other people you think are killing it, and reinterpret it. In general, it's really helped me to become a (somewhat) successful blogger to follow some bloggers and other creatives that I think have bomb-ass content. I also take style cues from old movies, musicians, artists, all around bad asses, and obviously other stylists' work as well. 

The reason this ties into today's post is that I also do this on Instagram. I follow a lot of accounts that provide me with some sort of inspiration that has made my own content better. Some of these accounts have a lot of followers, and some of them do not, but the common denominator is that they're all inspirational to me in some way.

This café is known for L.A.'s favorite customizable lattes, and continues to grow in popularity. This place will write or design whatever you like on your cappuccino, and has beautiful natural light and white tables. As expected, it's every bloggers dream. Miss Foodie Problems:

My girl Corey over at Miss Foodie Problems never ceases to make me SO hungry. She eats at some seriously amazing spots, and a lot of them are off the beaten path. Not to mention, she's also an awesome cook and regularly features her creations on Snapchat.  Check her out at @missfoodproblems.

While Infatuation has accounts all over the U.S., their LA account is clearly my favorite. They do a really great job of covering all the newest and best restaurants, and taking beautiful pictures along the way. They also feature other users' great content for an authentic round-up of some seriously great eateries. Follow them @infatuation_la

The creator of Thrifts and Threads has become quite famous but I've actually been following her since she had 20,000 followers and was in the running to win Bloglovin's "Breakthrough Blogger of the Year" award. Brittany won the award and never looked back, but I love her Instagram for it's multitudes of casual, but chic outfit ideas. Sure, it isn't the IG that has the most insanely beautiful photos and heavily photoshopped feed, but it's not trying to be. What Brittany has accomplished is an approachable blog that incorporates fashion and blogging tips with her every day Los Angeles life while looking chic doing it. While I don't know Whitney, we have been neighbors for quite some time over here on the Venice Canals. I love her point of view chronicling her life in a tiny canal cottage with her ever growing family. Her living space is beautiful and it's a useful account to follow for design ideas if you also have a small living area to work with. I can't believe it's been an entire year since @adamwinkleman and I stayed here at my other favorite tiny house in Venice. 👆 While we were staycationing at this amazing craftsman cottage, we learned the gender of our baby via an email from my doctor. I'll never forget that moment (about an hour after I snapped this photo). I sat inside under the vines, reading and rereading that I was going to have a son. And now he's over 5 months old and we are in Florida visiting his grandparents and my childhood home (I've uploaded some video and pix to Stories). Where does time go? I am thankful for every moment.

On my last post I wrote about silk and today it's all about velvet. Can you tell I'm majorly into fabrics? Maybe it's from my short stint in interior design, but I'm crazy over them. The first thing I do when I buy something is walk up and touch it , move it, play with it, see how it drapes, see how it moves, see how soft it will be, see how the light catches it, I mean this is really an obsession (clearly).  To me, this is the reason to buy or wear more expensive things. It's all about the quality of the fabric and how that fabric is sewn and meant to lay. Before I get too off-topic, this is why fabrics are to me the building blocks of ANY great wardrobe. Anybody who's ever been in an amazing fabric store will certainly confirm this- OH THE POSSIBILITIES!!!!! It's like heaven for anyone creative (aka me.)

Maybe you're not as much of a fashion geek/ obsessed as I am, but you still need to know about velvet right now. It's in every store anywhere and a major trend at least until Spring 2016, ha. What doesn't look good wrapped in velvet (especially during the Holidays?!) It'll take any shoe from basic to luxe, and give that mini skirt a little extra va-va-voom.
