Erika at Disgraceland

Hellllllloooo!!!! After quite a hiatus it feels good to be back with an all new layout and tons of new content on the way. I'm going to start featuring more of my styling work on here under " Styled by Me ". Recently I had the pleasure of styling the beautiful Erika Myrvik with Next Models for a shoot with the uber talented photographer Emily Winiker. I've basically been Instagram stalking Emily, and while she is a photographer out of New York- I was hoping one day we'd get to work together. In her recent trip out to California I was delighted when she contacted me and asked me to style this Nordic looking beauty Erika. The location was an amazing old retro house in Venice.

About the house-- picture The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, meets a Coachella camp ground, meets an old antiques store and that's the location for this shoot. There is all sorts of cool art work and old stuff littered around the yard of this place which makes it a perfect back drop for shoots. There's also an awesome pool we took a few shots with that made for some great lighting.

For this shoot in particular Emily wanted me to pull lots of 70's casual inspired outfits (which was easy and fun considering EVERYTHING is 70's right now on the runways). I mixed vintage pieces on the model with some newer ones from Free People, Topshop, and Hudson jeans-- you can shop some of the looks in the gallery at the end of this post. We also had a great makeup artist- Lindsey J- who made Erika's skin glow in such a natural and pretty way. I'm really excited about how the images came out and to share them with you! Check them out- xo, The Style Sauce

Candy Colored Dreams

Well first of all, Happy New Year everyone!!! I'm hoping that everyone had a safe and fun holiday season. I just got back from the East Coast for the past 3 weeks, and it feels amazing to be back in the California sunshine! Today's post is actually really part 2 of our last post, Ice Cream, stemming from my recent obsession with everything color. While generally in the winter we tend to gravitate to darker colors and of course black, I love doing the opposite for an unexpected vibrant splash. Of course, no look is complete without a colorful fur coat or sweater - I've been seeing them literally EVERYWHERE. I wore my favorite Zara booties for both looks- while I love color it's hard to ditch my favorite black booties du jour. Sometimes anchoring a colorful look with black accessories can provide great contrast. (I also did this in our Think Pink post).

For today we have not one but TWO colored looks that Michele Andersen shot for me before we took off for the Holiday! So excited for 2015- we have lots more coming for you I can't wait to share. Shortly we will be launching a newly redesigned homepage, and next week we'll be back to black from NYC, stay tuned.

Being it is October, which just so happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness month, I decidedly shot this pretty in pink look with photographer Michele Andersen. With pastels being all the rage for fall this year, and pink always being one of my favorite colors anyhow, this post made perfect sense to put together. Knowing many who have either died or battled with cancer, it is a subject for me that hits close to home.  For that reason I raised money and rode in Cycle for Survival last year, and I plan on wearing pink ALL October.

That being said, one of my favorite things to do is mix and match masculine and feminine pieces. For this particular post I mixed this cotton candy pink jacket I bought from Zara last year with an 80's vintage leather pencil skirt I found at the Melrose Trading Post for just $25 dollars. For additional urban effect I paired the look with the most perfect leather booties I have found all season from Stuart Weitzman and my new favorite Rebecca Minkoff backpack. This fierce little backpack is not only super versatile, but when purchased at Bloomingdale's (which is where I purchased mine) in the month of October, gives back to breast cancer as well. I love fashion for a good cause. Check out the full look below. Oh, and F Cancer !!
