3 Ways to Wear Blue Pin Stripes for Spring and Summer
Blue pinstripe statement sleeve blouse street style via The Style Sauce Blog

When it comes to prints for Spring and Summer one always comes to mind, and it's florals. As Miranda Priestly would say: "Florals for Spring? GROUNDBREAKING." While I love a good floral almost any time of year, this year it seems that stripes are actually taking the spotlight. They've been popping up on everything from statement tops to wide leg trousers, and it seems every it-girl is rocking a stripe in one way or another. My personal favorite way to rock a stripe this season? A blue pinstripe, and I'm digging it on tops as well as bottoms, or accessories! There's something preppy and pulled together about the classic print that can go with so much. It also has the tendency to class up a pair of ripped jeans. Below see two of my favorite ways to rock this pattern, and shop some of my faves!

1) A statement top:

Statement tops are everywhere, and I can't help but gravitate to them every time I see them in a stripe. Here I'm wearing this fabulous off the shoulder flare-sleeved version from Azalea SF which goes great with anything from a skinny jean, to a wide legged pant, to a suede mini like I'm wearing here from AG Jeans. (Quite possibly my favorite thing in my closet right now, btw. It's such a stunning piece!)

2) A high waisted short:

Stripes are notoriously tricky on the body but these are flattering since they're small and vertically placed. Put a pinstripe on a high waisted short or jean and it's bound to be magic. I love the blue and white on these and they're so fun to play around with for Summer. I've worn them with a pussy bow blouse here, but they'd also be great with a bodysuit or simple tee and sandal. The ones I'm wearing here are the Juliette short from AG Jeans

3) A striped mini bucket bag:

Nothing says "Oui Oui" like a striped mini bucket bag with fringe. I've been wearing this little guy with everything and I love the pin stripe to give it a little fun flare. Every time I use it I have to ask myself: "Am I French yet?" Unfortunately, no, but at least I can dress like I am ;).

Motif Jewelry X The Style Sauce

I recently collaborated with Motif jewelry to curate a special jewelry collection that I wanted all of you to love.  I carefully hand selected these pieces that I would personally want to buy, and wanted to present them to you all as a compilation of the favorite kind of accessories that I love to wear on a day-to-day basis.

Really, this collection is about versatility, which always works best for the constantly busy woman these days. Our time is precious, and so are versatile jewelry pieces that can really bring an outfit together.  The idea of versatility is encapsulated in the "Link to Each" ring, which looks like two rings but is really one, the Treasure House necklace, and the Secret Choker necklace, which both look like two separate necklaces, as well. Half of the collection is rose gold (my favorite), and the other half is yellow gold. As a Californian, I made the collection based in two different types of gold because I am from the GOLDEN STATE, after all! What I love most about this collection is that it can be worn with jeans and a tee shirt (my LA uniform... of course), or something a little more glam like a blush fur vest and heels.

I love that each and every piece is unique, yet simple and wearable.

Check out the entire collection below and when you've found your favorites you can shop them all directly here. Make sure you grab the pieces that you like, though...  my shop comes down March 25th!

I'm so proud to share all of these with you as it's been one of my favorite projects that I've worked on so far. Check all of the collection out below, and I can't wait to see which ones you'll choose as your favorites!

1) The Treasure House necklace:

--- Made to look like two necklaces, but it's really one. Layered to perfection without you have to wear two different pieces! I like anything that makes my life easier. I love the pearl and crystal detailing, and it looks great with a tee or something a little more dressed up. It's also 925 silver plated gold so won't irritate even the most sensitive skin (like mine!)

2) The Colby Cuff Bracelet:

-- The Colby Cuff Bracelet comes in gold, silver, or black. I love it for it's minimal lines and easy to close clasp. I hardly ever take mine off, an amazing every day piece that can go with almost any other of your favorite accessories.

3) The Pearls at Hand ring

--- This gorgeous ring with claw detailing and pearls looks great with The Treasure House necklace, because hello, pearls!  I love that it's a statement ring without being too much. It's also on sale! Grab one before they're gone.

4) The Secret Choker necklace

--- There has been nothing more trendy and of the moment lately than chokers! For this one I love that there is a dainty rose gold component that is wrapped with black suede-like fabric that creates a bow. Again, it looks like two necklaces which I LOVE! I guess I'm kind of lazy, but the less I have to do to get my jewelry on in the morning, the better... am I right?

5) The Swing in the Wind earrings

--- Admittedly, I don't wear enough earrings. That being said, when I see ones that I love I know I just HAVE to have them. These earrings are one of my favorites from the entire collection and a surefire compliment getter. Wear them with an off the shoulder dress this Spring for some serious va-va-voom. These are also silver plated with rose gold so they won't irritate your ears!

6) The Link to Each ring

--- I've saved the best for last. There's just something about this ring that is perfect for a little glitz in the right places. I hardly ever take it off since it came home with me. I find myself wearing it with a sweater and jeans, but also the first thing I reach for when I need to dress up a pantsuit or something more night time. Again with the two for one, it's one ring connected with a chain so it gives you the perfect stacked look as a midi and regular ring with the ease of having just one piece.

How to style a pantsuit
A crossbody is a great low- maintenance option for styling with a pantsuit like this one from Hammitt

A crossbody is a great low- maintenance option for styling with a pantsuit like this one from Hammitt

Pantsuits, jumpers, rompers with pants, whatever you want to call them, can be such a chic wardrobe staple, but also super hard to style. If you don't do it just right, it can end up looking like you woke up and rolled out of bed and hit the grocery store, or even worse, like you're a city worker or train conductor. While it's totally fine to have a nod to looking similar to the man who painted your house or an inmate, it's not usually my goal to totally go for it - Halloween not included.

All that aside, it's about the way you put it together, the width of the leg, if it has sleeves, etc. Here are a few tips for styling a pantsuit that will have you looking stylish, not in bed clothes or like you live at the state penitentiary.

1) Layer up: Adding a scarf, vest, or jacket can break up the pantsuit and take it to a whole different level, or even make it look like just pants with a sweater!

2) Different leg width, different shoes: I love these pointed bow front slides (similar here) that I'm wearing in this post for pantsuits that are cinched at the ankle or skinny thought the leg. Other great options are mules, or flat sneakers. For a wider leg pantsuit or one with a flared leg, a platform, heeled bootie, or sneaker could be great, depending how long it is and where it sits.

3) Belt it, or opt for a pantsuit that cinches at the waist : As you can see here this pantsuit has a drawstring at the waist. I've never met a pantsuit I liked that didn't cinch somewhere on the torso area. Make sure you accentuate the waist or cinch at the hips with a belt to make sure your body isn't lost in all the fabric!
